A 24 hour plumber is available around the clock, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. A regular plumber typically works standard business hours (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.). For emergencies that happen outside business hours — which is when most plumbing emergencies seem to occur — a 24 hour plumber is essential. The most important steps are: (1) Shut off your main water supply if water is flowing uncontrollably. (2) Turn off your water heater if you've shut off the main supply. (3) Move valuables and electronics away from any standing water. (4) Take photos and video for insurance purposes. (5) Open windows if there's a sewage smell. Our team will guide you through specific steps for your situation when you call. Read our full guide: What To Do Before Your Emergency Plumber Arrives in Calgary.

In most Calgary homes, the main water shut-off valve is located in the utility room, mechanical room, or near the water meter — typically in the basement. It's usually a gate valve (round wheel handle) or a ball valve (lever handle). Turn it clockwise to close. If you can't find it, call us and we'll help you locate it over the phone.

Yes. Raw sewage contains bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens that can cause serious illness. If sewage has backed up into your home, keep children and pets away from the affected area, avoid touching the sewage, and call us immediately. Open windows for ventilation if possible. See our sewer backup service page for more information.

Do not try to thaw frozen pipes with an open flame. You can use a hair dryer on low heat, warm towels, or a heating pad on accessible pipes. Never leave a heat source unattended. If you're not sure where the frozen section is, or if a pipe has already burst, call us immediately. Read our blog post: How to Prevent Frozen Pipes in Calgary Winters.
